At a time when venture funding in female-only founded startups has remained at only 3% of all venture dollars since 2012 – we are thrilled to announce that Girls in Tech is seeing the evidence of an uptick in women founders at startups around the world! For the record, that number increases to only 7% for male and female-founded teams (Techcrunch, 2017).

Enter AMPLIFY, the Girls in Tech startup competition for women founders. Now in the seventh year, the competition has helped to provide funding, exposure on a global stage, and a community of investors and changemakers committed to supporting women entrepreneurs.

Challenge

Compete among women-founded startups from around the world

Social Innovators have a tendency to work in silos, but can benefit from more collaboration. This is highly dependent on personal networks and face-to-face meetings. It takes time to form an effective professional and personal network to execute their ideas.

Why compete?

  • Gain access and exposure to a community of investors, entrepreneurs, partners and employees
  • Compete for prizes and a chance to bring your startup international
  • Garner exposure on Girls in Tech’s global platform
  • Receive feedback from a panel of judges ranging from investors, to entrepreneurs, to tech industry veterans
  • Hear keynotes from seasoned entrepreneurs giving real-life advice on how to navigate the startup waters when there is no playbook

“Winning Amplify helped Altaroad to  increase our visibility and we  also received more interest from companies which reached out to us after hearing our win.  Thanks to the competition, we traveled to Singapore in April 2019 to meet with potential innovation partners in areas like urban mobility, ports and industrial land strategy.  This competition and our Singapore visit fast-tracked our global ambitions to enter overseas markets”

We also know, there is still only 25% of computing jobs are held by women and far fewer for minorities. Now more than ever before, we need to close the gap for women in tech. Your business depends on it.

The Girls in Tech Impact

Compared to 2017, we saw the number of women-led startups who applied jump 33%. We saw the number of countries represented in the application pool jump by 9% including more startups from Asia and the Middle East.
